Let me digress for a moment. I thought I would never own a dog again after Zeppelin. She was my dog that was killed 22 years ago. Approximately 10 years ago, I had attended a pet bereavement support group and told the story of my dog Zeppelin and that she was killed and I felt so free talking about it. As a result of attending the support group, I decided I wanted to own a Scottish Terrier. I just did not feel comfortable getting a dog with my cat Pumpkin, as he was my only child. Well, Pumpkin passed away this last May after a liver illness.
Out of the ashes came a miracle: My puppy Maxwell Scottie. We initially thought she was a girl, so I named her Hannah. The next day I went to the vet to show them Hannah, I thought!!! My vet said, “June, you have a boy!” I said, “no way.” She said, “Look, see, now you believe me.” I said, “Well, his name is Maxwell Francis Scottie.” When I made my decision after attending the support group that I wanted to own a Scottie, I thought to myself if I got a Scottie, I wanted a male and I would name him Maxwell. His middle name would be Francis after St. Francis of Assisi, as he worshiped animals and the environment.
By getting Maxwell, this was meant to be. He is a cute brindle Scottish Terrier mix. He is friendly, he loves children, other animals, and people. People stop and say how cute he is. It is amazing how a dog can open up a whole new world for you. Maxwell is a true miracle and a blessing. He has brought a lot of joy into my life.
